Our Committees
The Young Israel of Houston strives to offer various programs and benefits to our members. Many of these programs require volunteers to help plan, coordinate, and implement, and so we have a number of committees to help execute these programs. If there is any committee to which you would like to devote your time, please reach out to the committee chairs.
Adult Education Committee
Plan and coordinate scholar-in-residence programs and guest lecturers.

Catering Committee
Plan and coordinate weekly Shul kiddushim.
Committee Chair - Tzivia Weiss
Finance Committee
Meet with Shul Administrator to assist in writing the annual budget, review quarterly budget vs. actual. Work with members in arrears.

Membership Committee
Welcome and engage new members of the community, assist them with their needs, encourage them to join and become members of our Shul.

Safety and Security Committee
Organize and implement safety measures on Shabbos and Yom Tov, and develop and implement policies and equipment for safety and security of the building.
Committee Chair - Michael Kusin
Sisterhood
Develop and run social and educational programs, Bat Mitzvah program and other fundraisers for the women in the shul.
Committee Chair - Rikki Westreich
Youth Committee
Work with youth staff in establishing programs. Assist in establishing a budget, review quarterly.
